Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month is celebrated as Janmashtami. This festival is celebrated all over the country as the birth anniversary of Shri Krishna. Shri Krishna is anointed on the day of Janmashtami. Along with this, 56 other dishes including Makhan Mishri are offered to him by his devotees.
