Dattatreya Jayanti is considered one of the most important days. Dattatreya Jayanti is celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Marshish. Lord Dattatreya was born on this auspicious day. According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Dattatreya is considered to be the epitome of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. At some places, Lord Dattatreya is also considered as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. In the form of gurus, they sit in high places.
There are many temples in South India dedicated to Lord Dattatreya. He is worshiped as the main deity in Maharashtra. The form of Lord Dattatreya is considered very beautiful in which the deities of all the three worlds are included. Dattatreya ji has three heads and six arms. His child form is worshiped on the day of Dattatreya Jayanti. The day is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm in Lord Dattatreya temples located in the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Dattatreya Jayanti auspicious date auspicious time of worship Dattatreya Jayanti finds place in very auspicious time. On this day, taking bath in holy days like Ganga, Yamuna is considered very auspicious. Dattatreya Jayanti holds religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. The month of Marshish holds great importance in itself because this month is dedicated to Lord Krishna and Dattatreya ji is also considered as the form of Lord Shri Vishnu.
Dattatreya Jayanti Puja Method On the day of Dattatreya Jayanti, devotees get up early in the morning and bathe in holy rivers. Devotees visit the temple and special Lord Dattatreya Puja is performed with incense, diyas, flowers, camphor and sweets.

People also worship Lord Vishnu on this auspicious day of Dattatreya Jayanti. Idols of Lord Dattatreya are worshiped in homes and temples to attain the path of righteousness.
Temples are decorated, bhajan-kirtan is organized in all the temples. At some places, people also recite Avadhoot Gita and Jeevanmukta Gita.
On the day of Dattatreya Jayanti, the idol of Lord Dattatreya should be installed on a white pedestal. After this, Lord Dattatreya should be anointed with Gangajal. After this light incense, ghee lamp and offer flowers, sweets and fruits to Lord Dattatreya. Keep in mind that only white colored flowers and fruits should be offered in worship. Chanting the mantras of Lord Dattatreya on the day of Dattatreya Jayanti is considered very fruitful. Reciting Bhagwat Gita on this day gives freedom from Pitridosh. By reciting Dattatreya Stotra after worshiping according to the rules and regulations, the grace of Lord Dattatreya remains.
