Ganga bath should be taken on this day. Aachaman should be done along with bathing. If due for some reason you cannot go for a Ganga bath, then mix some Ganga water in your bath water at home and take a bath with this water. According to religious belief, doing this gives results equal to bathing in the Ganges.
After the bath, before worshiping Mother Ganga, bathe her with milk and Ganga water, then worship her by lighting incense and a lamp.
