Kojagar Vrat Mythological Significance
The night of Kojagar Puja has great significance. It is believed that on this night Maa Lakshmi comes to the earth for darshan. That is why the worship and awakening done on this night have special significance. According to mythological legends, on this day the abode of nectar is believed to be on the whole earth.
Kojagar Vrat Puja Method:
For worship on the day of Kojagar Vrat, one should wake up before sunrise on this day and purify oneself by taking bath etc. After this the resolution of fast should be taken. For the worship of Lord Vishnu and Mata Lakshmi, their idol or picture should be established. After bathing Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi with water, yellow clothes should be offered to Lord Vishnu and red clothes to Lakshmi.
Now they should be offer garlands of red and yellow flowers. Ghee lamp should also be lit in front of them. Sweets should be offered to God. Arghya should be offered to the moon in the evening after finishing the morning worship by performing eulogy and aarti. By observing Kojagari Vrat, the pleasures of life increase and the blessings of God should be taken.
