Every year Kharmas begins when the Sun enters Sagittarius. According to the Hindu calendar Kharmas always falls between Paush and Margshirsh month. It is believed that during Kharmas the Sun becomes weak and so is considered impure. Because of this reason Sun's behaviour becomes fiery. As Sun has been given a special place in Hindu scriptures, all the holy and auspicious events are put to a halt because of Sun becoming impure.
This time, the month of Kharmas is going to start from 16 December and will last till 14 January. This month is considered very auspicious in terms of worshipping. Lord Vishnu, Lord Krishna and the Sun god are primarily worshipped in this month. Doing charity and donating also hold a great importance in this month. It is believed that if a person chants some specific matras during the month of Kharmas then with help of gods blessings all your troubles will go away and all your wishes will come true.
