Mahalakshmi Vrat 2022: Know when the fast is starting , its auspicious time and method of worship

Mahalaxmi Vrat is a very important festival in Hinduism. This festival is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and fortune. Mahalakshmi Vrat is observed for a period of sixteen consecutive days, starting from the Ashtami day of Shukla Paksha in the Hindu calendar month of Bhadrapada and ending on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha.
 Mahalakshmi Vrat will start from Saturday, September 03 and end on Saturday, September 17. Mahalakshmi fast is supposed to show increase in wealth and fortune.

The Maha Lakshmi Vrat begins four days after the Ganesh Chaturthi festival and continues till the eighth day of Pitru Paksha. In Mahalaxmi Vrat, Hindu devotees observe a fast for Goddess Lakshmi and seek her divine blessings. This fast is observed in the northern regions of India.Like in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh it is celebrated with full enthusiasm and dedication.

Mahalaxmi Vrat Puja
Mahalakshmi Vrat starts on the day of Bhadrapada Shukla Ashtami and on this day devotees wake up at sunrise and take early bath. Special worship of Goddess Lakshmi is performed every morning for 16 consecutive days.During this all the eight forms of Mahalakshmi are worshipped. In some regions, devotees also worship the Sun God during this period. Devotees offer Arghya to the Sun God every day at sunrise. Sixteen knots are tied in this fast and the followers of Mahalakshmi fast wear it in their left hand. Devotees worship the idol of Goddess Lakshmi with full dedication and pray to the Goddess to bring happiness and prosperity to their entire family.

Fasting on this day brings financial prosperity. Get rid of debt etc. The glory of this holy fast was told by Lord Krishna to King Yudhishthira, the eldest of the Pandava brothers. The greatness of Mahalakshmi Vrat is also mentioned in religious texts like 'Bhavishya Purana'.
