Mahalakshmi Vrat starts on the day of Bhadrapada Shukla Ashtami and on this day devotees wake up at sunrise and take early bath. Special worship of Goddess Lakshmi is performed every morning for 16 consecutive days.During this all the eight forms of Mahalakshmi are worshipped. In some regions, devotees also worship the Sun God during this period. Devotees offer Arghya to the Sun God every day at sunrise. Sixteen knots are tied in this fast and the followers of Mahalakshmi fast wear it in their left hand. Devotees worship the idol of Goddess Lakshmi with full dedication and pray to the Goddess to bring happiness and prosperity to their entire family.
