Pavitra Ekadashi 2022: This Ekadashi will be fortunate, know the story, timings and worship method

Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha coming in the month of Shravan is celebrated as Pavitra Ekadashi, this Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Sawan is considered to be particularly fruitful. The time of Ekadashi is considered to be a very holy day, fasting on Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Shravan month destroys all sins and purifies the person. This Ekadashi has also been important for the happiness of children, due to which it is also known as Putrada Ekadashi. On this day, a 24-hour fast is observed and especially as a couple, husband and wife worship Lord Vishnu, who are not getting child happiness for a long time after marriage, this fast is considered very auspicious. This day is especially celebrated by Vaishnavas, the followers of Vishnu.

Pavitra ekadashi auspicious time-
Pavitra Ekadashi will be celebrated on Monday, 08 August 2022. Ekadashi start date: 07 August 2022 will be from 11:51 am and Ekadashi end date: 08 August 2022 will be till 09:01 pm.

The son is considered absolutely important in the society as he takes care of the parents in the old age of life and after performing the Shradh (ancestral rites) ensures the well being of his parents in life. While each Ekadashi has a different name and is set for certain goals, the goal of having a son is so great that it is called Putrada Ekadashi.

Holy ekadashi story-
The story of Pavitra Ekadashi was narrated by Lord Krishna to King Yudhishthira, according to the legend, King Mahajit had a rich and powerful ruler, who had no children. He called his learned men, rishis and brahmins to find a solution to his problem and asked a way to get a child, but no one could give a solution. The king approached the omniscient saint Lomesh. Lomesh learns that Mahjit's misfortune was the result of his sins in his previous life.

The sage said that Mahajit, you were a businessman in your previous birth. While traveling in connection with business, you once felt very thirsty and reached the pond. There a cow and its calf were drinking water. You removed them and drank the water yourself. This sin resulted in childlessness, while some of your good deeds resulted in your birth as the king of a kingdom. Sage Lomesh advised the king and queen to observe a fast on the holy Ekadashi coming in Shravan to get rid of their sins.

Both husband and wife as well as their citizens observed fast and prayed to Lord Vishnu and chanted his divine name throughout the night. He also gifted gold, jewels, clothes and money to Brahmins. His wish was fulfilled when a beautiful son was born to his successor in his kingdom.
