When will Pitru Paksha start?
Pitru Paksha starts every year from the full moon day of Shukla Paksha till the new moon day of Krishna Paksha. The duration of Pitru Paksha is 15 days. This year Pitru Paksha is starting from 29th September, which is going to last till 14th October. In Pitru Paksha or Shraddha, works like mirror and Pind Daan etc. are done for the peace and salvation of the souls of the ancestors. It is believed that during this time our ancestors come to meet us in the afterlife. It is believed that buying certain things during Pitru Paksha is not in your best interest. Keep these things in mind during Pitru Paksha
Buying new clothes during Pitru Paksha is considered taboo. This is because, during Pitru Paksha, clothes are donated to the ancestors. During this time, by donating food and clothes, the ancestors are pleased and bless the person with prosperity. Buying a new house, vehicle, etc. during Pitru Paksha is also not considered auspicious. It is believed that one should avoid buying new things at this time.
