When it comes to the temple city of Jammu, the mention of the Raghunath temple is abound. Radhunath Temple is located in the middle of the city of Jammu. This temple is not only an identity of the faith of Hinduism but also the identity of Jammu. This temple is a typical example of its artistry. The Raghunath Temple is dedicated to Lord Rama. This temple is one of the major and unique temples of North India.

The Raghunath Temple was built in 1857 by Maharaja Ranveer Singh and his father Maharaja Gulab Singh. There are 7 historical religious sites in this temple. Inner parts of the temple are covered with gold, which is the appearance of Tej. The idol of many Gods and Goddesses is enshrined in the temple. The temple also has the Lingam of 33 crore Goddesses and Gods of Hinduism, which is a history in the temples. The devotees are quite surprised here.

There has also been a terrorist attack on the historic Raghunath temple in November 2002. After which this temple was closed for some time. In 2013, 11 years after the attack, the temple doors were once again opened to the devotee. This temple was started by Raja Gulab Singh in 1835. But the temple was completed during the reign of King Ranveer Singh. The walls of the temple are covered with a layer of gold on three sides.

This temple has five urns from outside which are spread in length. There are huge idols of Rama Sita Lakshmana in the temple. The specialty of this temple is that it has statues of many characters of the Ramayana Mahabharata period in different rooms. There are huge chambers in the courtyard around the sanctum sanctorum, which have these idols.

Apart from this, all four dhams can be seen in one room. There are such arrangements in the middle that one can see dham-Rameswaram, Dwarkadhish, Badrinath, Kedarnath from all around. Lord Satyanarayana can be seen in the middle of a room. The sun engraved in the center of this room is very beautiful. Barhamsa is visible on the walls all around, there are idols of the main deity of that month for Chaitra, Vaishakh, etc.

There is a very interesting anecdote related to how the Raghunath temple was built. It is said that Maharaj Gulab Singh got the inspiration to build this temple from Shri Ram Das Vairagi. It is said that Ramdas Vairagi predicted Gulab Singh to become king. Which later turned out to be true. Ramdas Vairagi was a devotee of Lord Rama. He came to Jammu from Ayodhya to propagate the ideals of Lord Rama. He used to live in a hut in Simbali. Ramdas built the first Ram temple in the Jammu region at Simbal.
