Som Pradosh Vrat 2021: Pradosh Vrat has the utmost importance in Hinduism. Just like the two Ekadashis in a month, Pradosh vrat is also falling twice a month. As per the Panchang, this Vrat is observed on Trayodashi Tithi. This day is devoted to Lord Shiva & devotees’ worship of bholenath. 24 Pradosh vrat falls in a year, this time the first Pradosh vrat is falling in the month of June i.e. on 7th Monday, that is why it is known as Som Pradosh vrat. Importance of Som Pradosh Vrat
If the person’s moon is giving negative effects, then they should keep Soma Pradosh vrat with full devotion. Doing this the person will in the life & the desires be fulfilled, this fast is also considered as significant for getting a child.
The mythology behind Pradosh Vrat
As per the legend, a Brahmin used to live in a town, her husband died. She did not have any shelter, so for survival, she used to go out & beg with her son in the morning. She used to feed herself and her son with the food which she gets while begging. One day she was going back home when she found a boy who was injured, she brought him home. That boy was the prince of Vidarbha. Enemy soldiers had destroyed his kingdom and had imprisoned his father and had taken control over the state, so he was fighting again and again. Then the prince started living in the Brahmin's house.
One day when a girl named Anshumati (from Gandharva) saw the prince, she was fascinated by him. on next day the girl brought her parents to meet the prince, they also liked him. Then a few days later, in a dream Lord Shankar came & ordered Anshumati's parents that the prince and Anshumati should be married, they did the same.

Brahmins used to keep Pradosh vrat, by doing this Gandharvaraj's army, & the prince defeated the enemies, regained his father's kingdom, and started living happily.
It is believed that one who does this fast gets the blessings of Lord Shiva & also gets rid of all the miseries.
Som Pradosh Vrat 2021: Puja Vidhi
On that day, wake up early in the morning take bath and wear clean clothes, After that, clean the temple with Gangajal and place the idol of Lord Shiva. Take a vow of fast by holding some flowers and Gangajal in your hand. Then do abhishekam of lord Mahadev with some Gangajal, Offer flowers, datura, milk, akshat, sandalwood, incense, and cannabis. After that offer bhog to God. During this, keep chanting the mantra Om Namah Shivaya. Then recite Shiv Chalisa, do the aarti of Lord Shiva, Chant Shiva Mantra throughout the day. You can chant the mantra 'Om Namah Shivaya' or 'Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushti Vardhanam'.
