What is Chandra Dosh
When Rahu is in conjunction with Moon, then that condition is considered as Chandra Dosha. This phase is also called lunar eclipse. It is believed that the Moon tends to suffer in this condition and since Moon is the karaka of the mind, it also starts dormant in the mind. Apart from this, there are some other arguments in which Chandra dosha occurs.
If Rahu is seen on the Moon, then it is also called Chandra Dosha or if the Moon has a rational relationship with Ketu, then it is also considered as Chandra Dosha. Even if the Moon is with inauspicious planets, there is Chandra Dosha. When Moon is between Rahu and Ketu, it is also called Chandra Dosha. If there is a vision of a malefic planet on the Moon, then there is Chandra Dosha. When Sun and Moon are together i.e. Amavasya is also called Chandra Dosha. Also, if there is no planet other than Sun, Rahu and Ketu in the second and twelfth position from the Moon, it also affects the Moon.
Moon Defect In Horoscope
Moon is very calm and auspicious, but due to its association with inauspicious planets, sometimes inauspicious results are seen from the Moon. When the position of Moon and Rahu are in one house in the ascendant horoscope, the Moon becomes guilty. In such a situation, the Moon is considered a victim and the native has to face mental torture. A similar situation also occurs when Moon and Ketu are together and the presence of an inauspicious planet along with Moon also weakens the Moon. Chandra Dosha occurs even when the Moon is between Rahu and Ketu.
Remedies To Avoid Chandra Darshan Dosh
Everyone is suffering in some form or the other without knowing the Chandra Dosha, and from the time of being afflicted, turmoil starts in the life of the person. He starts feeling apprehensive, gets scared, gets tensed. Sometimes the differences with the life partner increase so much that the situation of divorce arises. Therefore, measures should be taken to avoid Chandra Dosha.
Lord Shiva Shankar should be worshiped along with the chanting of Mahamrityunjaya Mantra and recitation of Shiva Kavach is also beneficial in reducing Chandra Dosha.
Donation of white things like rice and silver also pacifies Chandra Dosha.
Wear the things of the planetary friends of the Moon planet, that is, the gem is pacified by this.
By making rice pudding and feeding it to girls, the ill effects of the moon are reduced.
Recitation of Durga Saptashati, worship of Gauri, Kali, Lalita, and Bhairav also gives relief.
Apart from these, water is considered to be a symbol of the moon and Lord Ganesha is the lord of the water element, so Chandropasana also creates a lunar defect, especially when Ketu is in conjunction with the moon. But any worship is fruitful only when it is done methodically.
When Not To Do Chandra Darshan
The Moon should not be seen from the beginning to the end of Chaturthi Tithi. Chandra Darshan on that day is considered prohibited in religious texts. Because seeing the moon on the night of Ganesh Chaturthi leads to false accusations and false stigma in your lifetime. There are many stories, which tell why the moon should not be seen on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi.
It is a very famous story that once there was a bet between Ganesh ji and Kartikeya as to who first circumambulates the whole earth. And Kartikeya set out to circumambulate the earth, but instead of going to Parikrama, Ganesha kept going around his parents. Thereafter, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati granted him a boon that he would be the first to be worshiped by all the gods.
When the deities came to know about this, they all immediately reached there to praise Ganesha. Along with all those deities, Chandra Dev also went there. But he did not come forward to praise Ganesha, but stood at a distance and kept smiling seeing Ganesha. Chandra Dev was very proud of his appearance and beauty and on seeing the gaze of Ganesha, he smiled to make fun of him.
Then Lord Ganesha understood that the moon was proud of his beauty, so in anger, Lord Gajanan cursed the moon that from today you will become black. Right after this curse, Moon realized his mistake. He repeatedly apologized to Lord Ganesha. Then Ganesha took pity and said that after getting sunlight, you will one day be full i.e. it will be full light, but because of your false pride, this day will be remembered forever to punish you.
