When Rahu is in conjunction with Moon, then that condition is considered as Chandra Dosha. This phase is also called lunar eclipse. It is believed that the Moon tends to suffer in this condition and since Moon is the karaka of the mind, it also starts dormant in the mind. Then Ganesha took pity and said that after getting sunlight, you will one day be full i.e. it will be full light, but because of your false pride, this day will be remembered forever to punish you.
