Kanya Puja on the day of Ashtami

Worshipping a girl on the day of Ashtami is considered particularly fruitful. It is believed that only the Mata comes to the house in the form of a girl child. Therefore, one should serve them with devotion and offer puri-sabzi along with halwa-gram. It is said that Durga Puja is considered incomplete without Kanya Puja. This tradition is also called Kumari Puja. It is believed that by worshipping the girl, the Mata Rani fulfils all the wishes of her devotees and attains opulence.
