Know when is Falgun Purnima in the year 2022, its importance, auspicious time, method and about Falgun Purnima
The full moon day in the Hindu calendar is known as Poornima in North Indian states, Poornimani in South Indian states and Poonam in Gujarat. Apart from festivals and anniversary days, many families traditionally observe a one-day fast on the full moon day of the year. They also worship Satya Narayan ji.
Falgun Purnima is also known as Vasant Purnima, as this full moon coincides with the spring season out of the total six seasons (seasons) in Vedic astrology. In South Indian states, namely Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka, Falgun Purnima is celebrated as Kama Dahan. The rituals of Kamna Dahan are the same as that of Holika Dahan, but the mythology associated with Kamna Dahan is different from that of Holika Dahan. Generally, Holi is considered a North Indian festival, but it is also celebrated as Kaman Pandigai in Tamil Nadu and Kaamuni Panduga in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
In West Bengal and Orissa, Dol Purnima is celebrated during Falgun Purnima. The festival of Dol Purnima is dedicated to Lord Krishna. On this day Lord Krishna's procession is taken out through the streets while devotees play Holi with Lord Krishna. The birth anniversary of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is also celebrated on Phalgun Purnima. Hence the day of Falgun Purnima is very important for Gaudiya Vaishnava(s).
