Falgun purnima story
There is a story about Falgun Purnima in Narada Purana. The story is related to the demon Haryankashipu and his sister Holika. The demonic Holika sat in the fire to burn Prahlad, a devotee of Lord Vishnu and son of Hiranyakashipu, but by the grace of the Lord, nothing happened to the devotee Prahlad and Holika herself was consumed by the fire. For this reason, it is believed from ancient times that on the day of Phalgun Purnima, Holika should always be made of wood and Holika Dahan should be done in auspicious time. Lord Vishnu and devotee Prahlad are remembered at the time of Holika Dahan and this festival is celebrated to put an end to evil.
