This unique Jijibai temple is in Bhopal
Usually, wearing sandal shoes is not allowed in temples, so we all open our footwear outside the temple. But there is such a unique temple in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, where new sandals and slippers are presented to the Mother Goddess after the vow is completed, you must be surprised to hear this. This is the temple of Maa Durga, built on the hill in Kolar area of Bhopal, which is called Siddhidatri Pahadwala Temple. Many people also know it by the name of Jijibai Temple.
Devotees offer slippers and sandals when the vow is complete
It is believed that in this temple people come to pray and when their wishes are fulfilled, they offer new chappals or sandals as offerings to the mother here. Not only slippers, but in this temple, people also offer glasses, hats and watches to the mother. According to the local people, this tradition has been going on for almost 20 years.
The story behind the establishment of this temple is that a person named Om Prakash Maharaj had married Shiva-Parvati and performed Kanyadaan with the installation of the idol here. Therefore, they consider mother Siddhadatri as their daughter and worship her. The goddess installed in Jijibai temple is taken care of like a daughter and every wish of her is fulfilled. If people believe that when there is an impression that the mother is not happy with the clothes offered, then her clothes are changed two or three times in a day. This temple remains open throughout the day and people come to visit the mother and ask for a vow. The slippers that are offered to the devout mother are distributed to the needy.
