Shashthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Marshish month is celebrated in the name of Champa Shashthi. This festival has been very important from the point of view of folk tradition. The festival of Champa Shashti is dedicated to worshiping Lord Shiva. Many forms of Lord Shiva are worshiped on this day. This festival is specially celebrated mainly in Karnataka and Maharashtra region. On this auspicious day of Champa Shashthi, devotees worship Khanderao or Khandoba, who is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva. This festival is celebrated on the Shashthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Marshish month, this year it will be celebrated on 29 November 2022.

Importance of Champashashti Puja According to the scriptures, Champa Shashthi has great importance in Hinduism. The festival is dedicated to Lord Shiva who incarnated as the ferocious warrior Khandoba and saved the people from demons named Malla and his younger brother Mani. This day is celebrated as the victory of Khandoba who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva over these two evil brothers. From that day till now people in different regions of India worship Lord Shiva on Champa Shashti. Devotees celebrate this day in many different ways expressing happiness and faith on this day.

Who is Lord Khandoba
Lord Khandoba is said to be the Lord of hunters, warriors and farmers. People of Maharashtra and Karnataka celebrate this festival with great devotion and dedication. This festival is of great importance in the Khandoba temple located at Jejuri in the Pune area. It is believed that those who observe the fast with full devotion and dedication, the devotees can get rid of all their sins which may have been committed by them knowingly or unknowingly. The observer is blessed with positive energy and a prosperous and happy life.
Champashashti Puja Method Devotees wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath. This festival is celebrated for six days starting from Amavasya and ends on Champa Shashthi. Devotees offer vegetables, fruits, apple leaves and turmeric to worship Lord Khandoba every day. People visit the temple early in the morning for all six days from the new moon day till the eve of Champa Shashthi.
Devotees light an oil lamp in front of the idol of Lord Khandoba for six days. On the sixth day, several offerings made of flour and wheat are offered to the deity. After this ritual, this bhog is distributed among all.
