Dussehra 2022: Know why Dussehra is called Abuja Mahurta , and the special importance of this day

 The festival of Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month.  This festival is celebrated as the victory of truth over falsehood.  Hence this Dashami is known as 'Vijay Dashami'.  This year Dussehra festival will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 5.  Dussehra is one of the three most auspicious dates of the year, due to which it is also called Abujha Muhurta.

Dussehra is an Abuja Muhurta, that is, auspicious works can be done even without seeing the Muhurta in it.  There is also a belief of weapon worship on the day of Dussehra.  It is said that the work which is started on this day leads to victory.  The festival of Dussehra inspires to renounce ten types of sins- lust, anger, greed, attachment, item, matsra, ego, laziness, violence and theft.  Lord Shri Ram should be worshiped methodically on the day of Vijayadashami.  Dashami Tithi will be from 2.20 pm on 4th October to 12 noon on 5th October.  Shravan Nakshatra will remain from 10.51 pm on October 4 to 9.15 pm on October 5.  The auspicious time of Vijayadashami Puja will be from 7.44 am to 9.13 am.  That is from 10.41 am to 2.09 pm.  In this also, the Vijay Muhurta will be from 2.07 pm to 2.54 pm.  However, there will be Rahu Kaal from 12 noon to 1.30 pm.  Work done during Rahu Kaal does not give auspicious results, therefore, auspicious work should not be done during Rahu Kaal.

 Different colors of Dussehra at different places In North India, Vijaya Dashami is celebrated as Ramlila in the rituals of Dussehra.  On this day large effigies of Ravana, brother Kumbhakarna and his son Meghnath are burnt in huge fairs in front of huge crowd of spectators.  These effigies are filled with different types of firecrackers and theaters are also organized on this day depicting the story of how Lord Rama conquered Ravana.  In southern India, this day marks the end of Golu, a festival celebrated in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.  During this phase, Goddess Durga is worshiped as Goddess Chamundeshwari.
