Navratri is a nine-day long festival in which nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped. It is one of the most important festivals celebrated with great enthusiasm by Hindus all over India. There are a total of four Navratras in a year, but only two – Chaitra Navratri and Sharad Navratri are celebrated in a big way.

People celebrate this festival in different ways in different parts of the country. perform various rituals. Navratri' means 'nine nights'. In these nine nights, people observe fast and offer special prayers to the nine forms of Maa Durga. Goddess Durga is an incarnation of Goddess Parvati. Nine forms of Maa Durga are worshiped in nine different ways, let us know which day will be opened by worshiping which goddess.

 Goddess Shailputri
Goddess Shailputri is the first manifestation of Goddess Durga. She holds a trident in one hand and a lotus in the other and rides a bull named Nandi. Goddess Parvati was born as the daughter of Himalaya and in Sanskrit Shail means mountain, hence she is known as Shailputri.

Goddess Brahmacharini
The second day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Brahmacharini. The goddess holds a rosary of Rudraksh in one hand and a sacred kamandala in the other.
 Devi walks barefoot. Meditation of Goddess Brahmacharini bestows siddhi, this form is a symbol of Goddess Parvati when she was engaged in her intense meditation to please Lord Shiva.

Goddess Chandraghanta
The third day of Navratri is of Goddess Chandraghanta. The goddess is a fierce armed goddess, who has a crescent moon on her forehead, due to which she gets the name Chandraghanta. She is the destroyer of all evil and wicked. His vehicle is a tiger.

Goddess Kushmanda
The fourth day of Navratri is of Kushmanda
, The name Kushmanda is made up of three words, which means creator of the universe.Goddess Kushmanda gets the form of the creator of the universe.

Goddess Skandmata
Goddess Skandmata is worshiped on the fifth day, who is also known as Kartikeya i.e. mother of Skanda. Skandamata is a four-armed goddess, who holds a sacred kamandala with lotus in two of her arms and a bell in the other two. Lord Kartikeya is sitting in the lap of the goddess

Goddess Katyayani
The sixth day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Katyayani, a form of Shakti. Also known as the Goddess of War, Katyayani is considered to be one of the most formidable forms of Goddess Parvati. He has four arms and is carrying a sword. She is the daughter of sage Katyayan and rides on a lion.

Goddess Kalratri
 The seventh day of Saptami or Navratri belongs to Goddess Kalratri. According to legends she sacrificed her skin color and adopted a dark complexion to kill the demons. Goddess holds sword, trident etc. in her hands. She has a third eye on her forehead, which is believed to contain the whole universe.

Goddess Mahagauri
The eight days of Durga Ashtami or Navratri are dedicated to Goddess Mahagauri. She is a four-armed goddess who rides on a bull or a white elephant.She has a trident and a damaru in her hands. This is the auspicious Gaur form of the Goddess, due to which she is called Gauri.

Goddess Siddhidatri:
The ninth or last day of Navratri belongs to Goddess Siddhidatri. She is presented as a four-armed goddess sitting on a lotus, holding mace, Veda lotus, etc. in her hands. This form of Goddess Durga is a symbol of perfection.
