Worshipping Mahadev duly on Monday is very fruitful. This fast fulfils the wish. Worship Mahadev regularly in Sawan and offer water to him so that Mahadev's grace remains on you. Mata Parvati and Mahadev had met in the month of Sawan itself. Therefore, worshipping both in this month is very fruitful. You can do any auspicious work this month.
Whoever falls on Monday of Sawan, recites Shiva Vrat Katha after duly worshipping on that day. There is no dearth of devotees of Mahadev. That is why Mahadev Vrat Katha is not one. Let us listen to one Shiva fasting story from the same.
Here is the fasting story -
Once upon a time, when Shiva felt like visiting the world of death, he asked Mata Parvati and she spoke. Lord, we and you go to visit the earth today. Mahadev and Mata Gauri came to Amravati city of Vidarbha country. Here he saw that this city is full of all happiness. The king of this city had built a very beautiful Shiva temple at his gate. Mahadev and Mata were fascinated by seeing that temple. He made up his mind to stay here for a few days. Once Mata Parvati expressed her desire to play Chauras with Mahadev Ji. Then the priest of the temple had to come to the temple. Mother asked the priest who was victorious, the priest became a devotee of Mahadev. He said that my lord Mahadev has won. But the victory was of Parvati. The mother got angry. He told the priest that you have committed the crime of lying. I curse you that you will have leprosy in your body. The poor priest could not do anything. After many days some Apsaras came to that temple. Seeing such the condition of the priest, he asked what happened to you. The priest told the whole thing with a hesitant mind. Then the Apsaras consoled the priest and told him all the methods of fasting on 16 Mondays. Apsaras said that by doing this you will get the grace of Mahadev. Saying this, the Apsaras went towards heaven from there. The priest did the same and got rid of the disease of the body. Started living a happy life.
After some time, Mata Parvati comes to the same temple. And seeing the priest healthy, she asks how did all this happen? how are you doing well the priest told the whole thing to the mother. Then the mother decided that I would also keep a fast for my son Kartike so that he would not be angry with me and should come to his home i.e., Kailash as soon as possible. Mother kept fast with full rituals and recited worship. Mother also got the fruit of this fast. Kartikeji came to Kailash. After a few days, he asked his mother why I was not coming, so how suddenly my mind changed and I came. Mother Parvati told the whole story. Also told the story of Monday fasting. Kartikeji also kept this fast for the fulfilment of his wishes. Karthike ji's friend also asked for this fasting method and kept a fast for the fulfilment of earning with full sincerity.
After a few days, the friend Brahmins went abroad. He reached the place where the king had organized a swayamvara. In that swayamvar, the king had a condition that there is an elephant, and I will get my daughter married to whomever that elephant will put a garland around her neck. By the grace of Mahadev, the elephant put it around the neck of the same Brahmin. The king married his daughter to a Brahmin. On asking that girl, the brahmin narrated his entire story. Then the Brahmin's wife also fasted. He got a very beautiful son Ratna. When that son grew up, his mother told him the same story. He also fasted on 16 Mondays. So, the old king of that city handed over his royal text to the son of a brahmin. When the new king went to worship on Monday, his wife did not go to the temple because of a feeling of disbelief. The king single-handedly worshipped Monday. After the completion of the worship, there was an Akashvani that, O king, you leave your wife. If you don't do this, you will perish. In the end, the king expelled the queen from the kingdom. The queen cried and went to another city hungry and thirsty. He found an old lady in the city.
The old lady kept the queen with her. The old lady used to do thread weaving. On the second day, the old lady weaved the thread and asked the queen to sell it in the market. The queen went to the market to sell woven thread. Suddenly the whole thread got blown away due to the strong wind. So, the old lady angrily sent the queen out of her house and said you do not come here again. The queen went to the place of a telly crying from there. Showing a feeling of pity, the telly kept him at his house. As soon as the queen entered the storehouse, the vessel full of oil fell. Teli got angry and immediately threw Rani out of his house. Thus, being thrown out of every place, she reached a beautiful forest. When she came to drink water from the pond of that forest, then the water of that pond got worms and the water dried up. After drinking whatever little water was left, she came forward and sat under the shade of a tree. All the leaves of that tree started falling in happiness. The queen could not understand anything.
