What should be done on the day of Sheetala Saptami-
On the day of Sheetala Saptami, many types of dishes are prepared in homes. Halwa, Puri, Dahi Bada, Dumplings, Puy Rabri, etc., are made. The following day, women offer these things to Sheetla Mata and pray for the happiness and prosperity of the family. On this day, the house members, including Sheetla Mata, also take stale food. For this reason, it is also called the Basoda festival. It is believed that it is not proper to eat moldy food after this day.

There is a tradition of cleaning with cold water on the day of Sheetala Ashtami.
