As per the Panchang, this Jayanti is celebrated on the Ashtami of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month, this year it is falling on 18th June 2021. 10 Mahavidyas are worshiped on this day, Mata Dhumavati is considered as a widow, her vehicle is the crow. The origin story of Dhumavati Mata
As per the mythology, goddess Parvati was very hungry, there was nothing to eat or drink on Mount Kailash. Mata Parvati asked for food from Lord Shiva, but at that time Bholenath was in Samadhi. Mata became restless with hunger, she repeatedly kept asking for food, but as lord shiva was in the trance state, lord Mahadev did not reply. Mata Parvati became restless due to increased hunger, & swallowed Lord Shiva. Due to the poison in Shiva's throat, Parvati's body started turning black. The effect of the poison became so terrible she became ugly, after which Lord Shiva said that this form will be known by the name of Dhumavati. She will be worshiped as a widow as she swallows her husband (Lord Shiva). This form of goddess Parvati looks very ugly and cruel.

Dhumavati Jayanti: Puja Vidhi

On Dhumavati Jayanti, wake up in Brahma Muhurta and take shower. After this clean & purify the place of worship with Gangajal. After this, place the picture of mata in the front, offer water, flowers, vermilion, kumkum, akshat, fruits, incense, lamp, and naivedya to the goddess. then, read or listen to the story of the appearance of Mother Dhumavati. Chant the mantra of the mother.
