It is believed that observing Dwadashi brings prosperity and also pacifies the sins of previous births. Dwadashi is considered an auspicious day in Hindu culture. It occurs on the twelfth day of the Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha of the two months. Spiritually, Dwadashi also symbolizes the senses that awaken our consciousness. On this day, controlling the senses, fasting is observed and devotion to God is done with a pure mind. There are 24 types of Dwadashi every year, all of which are associated with different incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Certain rules are followed during each fast, which are followed to channel the mental energy in the right direction and avoid bad karma.
