Yashoda Jayanti - The name of the mother of Lord Shri Krishna was Yashoda ji, she was the one who took care of Shri Krishna ji and loved him like a real mother. Why And When Is Yashoda Jayanti Celebrated?
According to the Hindu calendar, the date of Shashthi during the Krishna Paksha in the month of Falgun is celebrated as Yashoda Jayanti. It is said that Mata Yashoda was born in the village of Braj and this festival is celebrated as the birthday of Mother Yashoda.
According to the legend, in ancient times, Mother Yashoda did penance to please Lord Vishnu. Pleased with which Shri Vishnu appeared to Mother Yashoda and asked to ask for a boon. Then Mother Yashoda asked the Lord to come to her home. As a result of which Lord took birth in the form of Shri Krishna by Devaki and went to the house of Mother Yashoda. After which Mother Yashoda took care of herself. Therefore, the auspicious occasion of its birth was celebrated as Yashoda Jayanti.
