Traditionally devotees avoid eating rice, wheat, and other grains. On Narasimha Jayanti, people take Sankalp in the afternoon and perform Narasimha Puja in the evening. Many people like to worship before sunset.
According to religious scriptures, Lord Narasimha appeared at sunset during Chaturdashi Tithi, the fast ends the next day after Narasimha Puja and offers food to the poor.
