Shashthi fasting is done for getting children happiness and good fortune. Shashthi Tithi is believed to be related to Goddess Shashti and Kartikeya Lord. The time of the Shashthi festival is mainly done by women to get children and also special worship is done on this day for the happy life of children. This fast is considered very auspicious for childless couples. It is an auspicious day for the devotees, this day Lord Kartikeya and Shashthi Devi are worshipped. On this day devotees observe a fast to please their lord and seek his blessings for a happy and prosperous life. Traditionally, this festival is celebrated on the sixth day of every lunar month according to the Panchang, i.e. Shukla Paksha and the sixth day of Krishna Paksha. In this way, the festival of Shashti Tithi comes twice every month. In some places, the sixth date of Krishna Paksha is associated with Lord Subrahmanya or Lord Kartikeya.

Time of Shashthi Tithi: 05th June, 4:53 am - 06th June, will remain till 6:40 am
. This day is most important for fasting. Devotees observe partial or complete fasts on the day of Shashthi to please the Lord. The Shashthi fast begins at sunrise and ends the next day after worshiping the Sun God. Those who observe fast do not eat during the entire 24 hours of fasting. Partial fasting can be done by eating fruits. People who have health-related problems can also observe Shashthi fast by having one meal in a day. The observant of the Shashthi fast is prohibited from consuming certain spices during the day. Consumption of non-vegetarian food and intoxicants etc. is strictly prohibited. On the day of the Shashthi fast, Shashthi Katha is recited and Shashthi Kavach is also recited. It is considered very auspicious to visit the temples of Goddess Shashti Devi and Kartikeya on this day.
