Daksheshwar Temple's Mythological SignificanceDue to the connection of this temple with ancient times, many stories are also attached to it. Mythological belief holds that Sati's father, Prajapati Raja Daksha, organised a huge yagya in Kankhal, a pilgrimage city. When Sati got the news that her father, Prajapati Raja Daksha, was going to organise a yagya at her maternal home, Kankhal, she urged Lord Shankar to participate in the yagya. But Lord Shankar refused to let him go there. Seeing Sati's stubbornness, Lord Shankar let Sati go. When Sati reached the place of Yagya at her maternal home of Kankhal, she did not find the seat of her husband, Lord Shankar, there. Seeing Lord Shankar being insulted, Sati got angry and burned her body with the fire of yoga. sacrificed his life, due to which there was an outcry in place of Yagya. Then Daksha was destroyed by Shiva's anger, and King Daksha's yagya was destroyed. All the gods and King Daksha's wife praised Lord Shankar, and then Lord Shankar gave life to King Daksha by placing a goat's head around his neck. King Daksh apologised to Lord Shankar for his actions and requested that he only reside in Kankhal. Then Lord Shankar revealed the self-manifested Shivling and named it Daksheshwar Mahadev.
