Panch Kedar: Lord Shiva resides in the land of the gods in the form of Panch Kedar.

Uttarakhand's Devbhoomi Himalaya is such a place that is known as the abode of God. It is believed that Lord Shiva resides here. Kedarnath Dham is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas located on the peaks of the Himalayas in Rudraprayag district of the Garhwal division of Uttarakhand. At the same time, along with Kedarnath Dham, Lord Shiva gives darshan to the devotees in his five special forms, and these special forms of Lord Shankar are called "Panch Kedar." Rudranath Mahadev is the third temple of Panch Kedar after Kedarnath and Tungnath, both forms of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is present in these five temples in the form of Panch Kedar, with different names. It is a mythological belief that by seeing and remembering these Panch Kedars, the devotee attains Shiva and thus salvation. Kedarnath Dham has its own special importance. These four places of Lord Shiva in Panch Kedar are part of Kedarnath only. It is believed that Mahadev did not want to give darshan to the Pandavas, who went to the Himalayan region for ascension.

When the Pandavas reached Kedarnath in search of Mahadev, Mahadev appeared in the form of a buffalo. The Pandavas recognised him, and thus Mahadev appeared in different forms to the Pandavas in the other four holy places of Panch Kedar. After seeing these different forms of Panch Kedar, Lord Shiva appeared before the Pandavas in his full form and granted them a boon. After this, his journey of ascension to heaven is complete, and the devotees who do the holy pilgrimage of these five Kedars get directly to Shivlok.
Kedarnath Mahadev TempleThe Kedarnath Mahadev Temple, located in Kedarnath Dham, comes first among the Panch Kedar temples, which are included in the Dwadash Jyotirlinga. It is believed that the Pandavas, who set out for ascension, built the Kedarnath temple.


Tungnath Mahadev TempleTungnath Mahadev Temple is one of the tallest Shiva temples in the world, as well as the tallest among the Panch Kedars. This is a sacred place; here, by the grace of Lord Shiva, Shiva's hands appeared in the form of Nandi the bull. Seeing this form of Shiva, the Pandavas got the Tungnath temple built. It is believed that Lord Rama placed Chandrashila here. had done penance on the peak, which is close to Tungnath. By visiting the Tungnath Mahadev temple, the devotees get the darshan of Shiva and Narayan together.

Rudranath Mahadev TempleRudranath Mahadev is the third temple of Panch Kedar after Kedarnath and Tungnath, both forms of Lord Shiva. This temple is surrounded by dense forests located on the peaks of the Himalayas. It is believed that Van Devi protects this area, which is why there is a tradition of worshipping Van Devi at this place before worshipping Rudranath Mahadev.


Madhyamaheshwar TempleMadhyamaheshwar is situated in the village of Gunder in the Himalayas in Garhwal, Uttarakhand. The middle part, or navel, of Lord Shiva is worshipped in this temple. A navel-shaped Shivling is present in the sanctum sanctorum of this mythological temple, where the devotees attain Shivlok by worshipping Lord Shiva.
Kalpeshwar Mahadev TempleMythological belief is that Kalpeshwar is the holy place where the Pandavas had divine darshan of Lord Shiva's head and hair. Shiva is worshipped in the form of Jatadhar or Jateshwar in the Kalpeshwar Mahadev temple. This mythological temple of Lord Shiva is situated in the origin valley of the Himalayas, which is considered rich in terms of natural beauty.
