According to the Hindu calendar, the Fifth Month is called Sawan (श्रावण माह). This whole month is dedicated to Lord Shiva and every Monday has its own importance, and to celebrate the advent of this special time in the year, earth adorns itself with the most beauteous creations. This year the month of Ashadh(आषाढ़) is ending from 24th July and Sawan month is starting from 25th July which will continue till 22nd August. During this, there are going to be a total of 4 Mondays. It is said that if unmarried girls fast and worship Lord Shiva on the Mondays of Sawan month are blessed with a loving Life-partner.
This month is considered auspicious by the ardent devotees' Shiva, and the adorers of Lord Shiva expect him to fulfil all their wishes in this month.

Sawan Shivratri Puja Method
- On Chaturdashi Tithi, get up early in the morning and take bath.
- Install the idol of Lord Shiva, take a vow
- Light incense, lamp in front of Bholenath
- Chant the mantras of Shiva Shambhu
- Offer them 1001 Bel leaves(Stone apple leaves)
- Do Rudrabhishek with water or milk, curd
- Offer sweets made from datura, cannabis, jaggery, pua, pudding, mil
