Ram temples can be found all over the country, but the only very old temple dedicated to his mother Kaushalya is in Chandkhuri, Chhattisgarh. On the occasion of Deepawali, a grand festival is also held in Chandkhuri every year. Diyas are blazing. People rejoice at Lord Rama's victory and return to Ayodhya. Recently, a 51-foot-tall statue of Lord Rama was erected on the temple grounds.

In the temple grounds, there is a Sitaphal tree with the name of the slip written on it and tied to the fruit. It is believed that by doing so, the wished-for wish will be granted. Near the Kaushalya temple is also the tomb of Vaidyaraj Sushen. Sushen Vaidya is said to have come from Lanka with Lord Rama after Ravana's defeat and died here in Chandkhuri.
