According to Hindu Calander, Shukla paksha of the month of Ashwin is celebrated as Vijaya Dashmi or Dusshera. Navratri starts from the first day of Shukla Paksha and ends with Dusshera on the tenth day of the end of nine auspicious days of Navratri. Navratri ends with it. This year ‘Vijay Dashmi’ or Dusshera is going to be celebrated on 15 October. It was on this day, Raavan and Mahishasur were killed which marked the beginning of the celebration of this festival. It is believed to be an auspicious occasion in the Hindu religion. There is a belief that any work done during this time will be beneficial.
